AI & Bot Crawler Tracking

AI Is Crawling Your Site.
Do You Know Who?

GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Bytespider, Google-Extended — AI companies are training their models on your content right now. SysWP tells you exactly which AI crawlers visit your site, how often, which pages they index, and how much bandwidth they consume.

Complete AI Crawler Intelligence

Every detail about how AI bots interact with your site — captured, stored, and visualized so you can act on it.

📊

Real-Time Bot Detection

SysWP identifies bots by User-Agent signature on every page request. No sampling — every crawl visit is captured and stored.

📄

Page-Level Crawl Data

See exactly which pages each AI crawler visited. Know if they're indexing your homepage, blog posts, product pages, or sensitive URLs.

📈

Crawl Frequency Charts

Track how often each bot visits over time. See trends: is GPTBot crawling more aggressively this month? Did a robots.txt change affect Bytespider?

💾

Bandwidth Consumption

AI crawlers can consume significant bandwidth. SysWP shows you how much each bot is using — so you can make informed decisions about blocking.

🔔

Crawler Activity Alerts

Get notified when a new AI crawler appears on your site or when crawl frequency spikes unexpectedly.

📋

Robots.txt Compliance

SysWP checks whether crawlers are respecting your robots.txt rules. Know immediately if a bot is ignoring your Disallow directives.

Why You Need to Track AI Crawlers

Ignoring AI crawler traffic isn't neutral — it means your content, bandwidth, and AI search presence are all invisible to you.

💡

Know If Your Content Is Training AI

If you don't want your content used to train AI models, you need to know who's crawling it first. You can't block what you can't see.

💰

Bandwidth Is Not Free

Large AI crawlers like Common Crawl and GPTBot can generate thousands of requests per day. On bandwidth-billed hosting, this has a real cost.

🎯

Understand Your AI Visibility

Is your site being indexed by the AI tools your target audience uses? Knowing which LLMs crawl your content helps you understand your AI search presence — the future of discovery.

How It Works

Setup takes under two minutes. After that, SysWP runs silently in the background — no configuration required.

1

Install the JS Snippet or WordPress Plugin

SysWP captures bot visits server-side (via the WordPress plugin) or via our JavaScript collector. Both methods detect all major bot signatures.

2

Bot Traffic Is Logged Automatically

Every request is analyzed against our bot signature database. Human traffic and bot traffic are separated. No configuration needed.

3

Explore the Data

Use the SysWP dashboard to filter by bot, date range, page, or bandwidth. Export data or share reports with clients.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about AI crawler tracking with SysWP.

How does SysWP detect AI crawlers?
SysWP matches incoming HTTP request User-Agent headers against a database of known bot signatures. Each AI company publishes their crawler's User-Agent (e.g., GPTBot/1.0, ClaudeBot). SysWP identifies and categorizes these automatically on every page request.
Does bot tracking slow down my website?
No. Bot detection runs server-side in the WordPress plugin or asynchronously in the JS collector. It adds under 1ms to server processing time and has zero impact on your Core Web Vitals or visitor experience.
Can I block AI crawlers with SysWP?
SysWP shows you which crawlers are visiting and helps you understand what to block. To actually block crawlers, you add Disallow rules to your robots.txt file. SysWP then monitors whether the crawler respects those rules.
What's the difference between Googlebot and Google-Extended?
Googlebot is Google's standard search crawler used for organic search indexing. Google-Extended is a separate crawler Google introduced specifically for AI training data. You can block Google-Extended (to opt out of AI training) while still being indexed by Googlebot for search rankings.
Why is Bytespider consuming so much bandwidth on my site?
Bytespider (from ByteDance/TikTok) is known for aggressive crawling patterns. It can make hundreds of requests per day even on small sites. SysWP's bandwidth tracking helps you quantify this impact. If it's significant, you can add Bytespider to your robots.txt Disallow list.
Does SysWP track human traffic too?
Yes. SysWP separates traffic into human visitors (via Real User Monitoring) and bots/crawlers. You get a complete picture of who's accessing your site — not just the humans.
